Lodge Assistant – Front of House
Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat, recognized by TIME Magazine as one of the best places to travel in 2024, is seeking a dynamic Lodge Assistant – Front of House to join our team. This is a temporary position for two months, with the possibility of extension.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Restaurant Managers, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding guest experiences, with a focus on food and beverage service. We’re looking for a friendly, service-oriented professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for hospitality. If you have experience in a similar role and enjoy creating memorable dining experiences, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive and friendly service to all guests.
- Guide guests through the food and beverage menus, ensuring dietary requirements and allergies are carefully considered.
- Serve food and beverages efficiently, ensuring accuracy and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, following Health & Safety regulations.
- Adhere to NZ Liquor Licensing Laws at all times.
- Assist with bar duties, including cocktail service, stock control, and training junior staff.
- Communicate with management regarding guest feedback and any issues.
What We’re Looking For:
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar front-of-house or bar role.
- Strong knowledge of food, wine, cocktails, and customer service techniques.
- A valid Duty Manager’s Certificate is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- A passion for creating exceptional dining experiences.
What We Offer:
- A two-month position with a pay rate of $26–$28 per hour, depending on experience, with the possibility of extension.
- A minimum of 30 hours per week.

Housekeeper
We’re seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to join our award-winning, luxury accommodation, featured in TIME’s World’s Greatest Places to Stay list.
Duties
The role requires the person to have good personal management skills and presentation, an eye for detail and exceptional customer services, cleaning skills, health and safety, and hygiene techniques. Experience in a luxury establishment is ideal. You will enjoy the pressures of tight housekeeping time-frames or being part of the hustle and bustle of the restaurant, weddings and special events. You will be physically fit and strong with excellent interpersonal skills. You will be able to maintain Luxury Lodge standards & code of conduct; have a guest-centric approach; attend team meetings; help others out, make and keep promises to guests and your teammates; show guests we value them; be well presented; take pride in your work; maintain security and confidentially; and be relied on for your honesty and integrity.

- High-Quality Housekeeping: Carry out housekeeping duties to an exceptional standard, ensuring excellent cleanliness and hygiene.
